Free SHS: Maths teacher arrested for selling to students

The teacher sold item list of GHc150.00 to about five parents
- The maths teacher has since denied any wrongdoing

The police in Dadieso in the Ashante region have arrested a mathematics teacher, Akpor Adjei for alleged extortions from some beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy.

The teacher succeeded in selling to about five parents
The police picked up the head teacher of mathematics department of Dadieso Senior High School for selling sandals, Graph book, Maths Formula book, Calculator, mathematical sets, Red Check material and Cutlery sets to parents at an amount of GHC 150.00.
Mr Christian Baah, the District Chief Executive of the area, in an interview with Accra-based Adom FM confirmed the incident.
The Ghana Education Service (GES), in few days ago interdicted some nine head teachers and subsequently fired two others in a similar conduct.
However the DCE says the head teacher succeeded in selling the items to about some five parents processing admissions of their wards.

Meanwhile the teacher in the center of the controversy, Akpor Adjei denied the accusations, insisting that he only sold the items to parents who could not easily find them to buy.
